In October 2018 South Chicago Packing was looking for a strategic waste and recycling partner to help reduce costs while also solving the challenge of how to best handle their animal lard byproduct. Wanting to focus on their day to day operations, they reached out to RoadRunner to oversee their waste operations and be a strategic recycling partner.

RoadRunner conducted a complete waste analysis using proprietary technology and identified significant cost savings opportunities and identifying volumes of byproduct created. Within one month, RoadRunner had negotiated a 15% cost savings for South Chicago Packing’s hauling services through data-informed rate negotiation and service optimization with zero disruptions to their service schedule or daily operations.
RoadRunner was also able to identify upstream recycling opportunities for the animal lard byproduct, implementing a specialized collection service to further reduce South Chicago Packing’s waste to landfill and strengthen their position as a sustainable partner to Chipotle.
